Clothing
Pack your clothes carefully. While I encourage you to “bring your closet”
so that we have some choices, please try and select clothing that coordinates
with the other items you have brought.
Put together outfits, not individual pieces.
Bring undergarments that coordinate and work well with the
outfits you selected.
Articles of clothing should be clean and pressed. Bring your clothes on hangers or neatly folded. Plastic shopping bags aren’t luggage and they
make your clothing look as through you have slept in them.
Don’t forget hats, shoes, belts, and jewelry.
Grooming
A manicure and pedicure are advised. Colors should be neutral (think French tips). Avoid bright colors and fancy designs.
Trim it, shave it, wax it – you get the idea.
If you are going to tan, do so several days in advance. Avoid tans lines at all costs.
Hair should be clean.
Health
Be rested. Get
plenty of sleep. Avoid that party the
night before.
Eat beforehand.
Not a big meal but something that will help you through several hours of
shooting. RedBull
and Starbucks might get you started, but you will likely crash and burn before
you are done shooting.
Hydrate several days before hand. It will help your skin.
Avoid salty foods several days before.
Conduct
Confirm the night before.
Know where you are going. Be on
time. Call if you are running late.
Turn off the personal communication device once you hit
the shooting location. No one wants to
hear your fancy ring tone or wait while you check your text messages.
Don’t arrive with an entourage. We are here to photograph you, not show you
off to your family, friends, or significant other. Chances are there is no place for them to
wait while you shoot.
Safety
Do your homework.
Check references for the people you will be working with. If you do not have a good feeling, move on.
If you feel uncomfortable with a situation, remove
yourself or do not do it. Photo sessions
are for memories, not regrets.
